I was hesitant but curious to try this - SO GLAD I DID! It looks like avocado but tastes like tangy fresh fruit - incredible! Light with a wee crunch from seeds - so tasty! Loved all the dishes we tried - we'll be back!

The flavors in this dish are so delicious! The eggplant is perfectly tender and juicy and the plantain is something I would order an entire side plate of if I could. My daughter ordered the kuku and loved it just as much as I loved the intore. This is our new favorite spot. Highly recommend.

Mbuzi

Got Mbuzi for takeout and will certain order again. The texture was buttery soft and melted in my mouth. Warmly spiced that transcended the to go box and brought me into a Nyumbani home.

My daughter is a vegetarian, and loved this eggplant stew. It was so smooth and tasty, along with delicious spinach, rice, and plantains. Everything here was great!

Nyumbani

The Nyumbani was delicious! I ordered with coconut rice. Every bite seemed to bring a new angle of flavor, so I just wanted it bite after bite! I am not a cooked spinach fan, however the side dish was pretty good (I don't think I'd go out of my way for it, but I ate it all- it mixed well with the rice). I will definitely be back.

Samaki

The Samaki (a flash fried, light tasting fish) was flavorful; it came with coconut rice and plantains. The meal was filling and delicious. Very healthy!

Mbuzi

Wow! The Mbuzi is amazing! The goat meat is so tender and rich with the perfect amount of seasoning and roasted goodness. I got the coconut rice and it is wonderful. The corn salad is really light and refreshing, and the yellow beans are slightly tangy and sweet. All the flavors and textures compliment each other so well, and the plantains are such a fun surprise! The portions are so generous, and you are basically getting four sides with this entree. I love the story of this business too! Immigrants from Burundi who are now bringing the gifts of their culture and cuisine and also partnering with Freedom House to create job opportunities for new immigrants as well. What a beautiful business model and story! The restaurant has a spacious yet really grounded vibe that is really welcoming and yet sophisticated too. I'm excited to go back and try everything on the menu! :D

Samaki

This was some of the best fish I have ever had, honestly. Tender, flakey, and full of wonderful flavor. The spicing was perfect. And with the rice, beans, and plantains, it was a very filling and delicious meal. Will definitely have this again.
